{"id":2,"date":"2012-02-11T05:01:38","date_gmt":"2012-02-11T05:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/s402747915.onlinehome.us\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2018-11-15T13:40:55","modified_gmt":"2018-11-15T18:40:55","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/dockcraft.com\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0concept\u00a0of dock mounted kayak storage racks came from\u00a0one of our relatives, who\u00a0spent a peaceful afternoon at our lakefront home. After\u00a0kayaking on beautiful Canandaigua Lake, she found herself wrestling with the kayak to get it out of the water\u00a0and said,\u00a0\u201cKayaking is fun and relaxing, but what a nuisance it is to get the kayak in and out of the water!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That got us thinking. We began to observe\u00a0how we stored and launched\u00a0our kayaks,\u00a0and observed the methods of others as well. We discovered some common issues that frustrated us all.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kayaks\u00a0take up\u00a0so much dock space.<\/strong> When stored on top of the dock, kayaks occupy most of the dock width.\u00a0To reach the end of the dock, our family and friends\u00a0found it\u00a0difficult\u00a0to navigate around the kayak. \u00a0This is especially true if you have more than\u00a0one kayak.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lifting the kayak is hard and bulky.<\/strong> Watching family members and neighbors lift kayaks from the water to the dock\u00a0shed some light on the fact that many people cannot do this alone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water collects inside the kayak.<\/strong> We have \u201csit in\u201d\u00a0 kayaks and after a rain, it was always such a hassle to turn the kayak over to\u00a0drain, turn it back over, and then launch the kayak.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We started looking for kayak storage\u00a0solutions that would address these issues, but there were none to be found.\u00a0Then,\u00a0we had an idea.\u00a0A <strong><a href=\"\/product\/kayak-dock-rack\/\">dock mounted kayak storage rack <\/a>that would make\u00a0it easy to store, access,\u00a0lift, and launch kayaks from the dock or the water.<\/strong> It was also more convenient as our kayak was right there at the water.\u00a0 No need to lug it around.<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2009, our first prototype unit was installed on our dock, and guess what, it worked!\u00a0The Docksider Kayak Rack was born.<\/p>\n<p>After reviewing the types of docks that needed to be considered in the design and talking with various retailers, we converted the design to feature aircraft\/architectural aluminum. \u00a0We also developed a conversion kit to change the <a href=\"\/product\/kayak-dock-rack\/\">Docksider Kayak Rack<\/a> into a <a href=\"\/product\/docksider-kayak-paddleboard-wall-mount-rack\/\">Kayak Wall Mount Rack <\/a>for\u00a0off-dock storage.\u00a0Perhaps most importantly, we\u00a0aligned ourselves\u00a0with accredited manufacturing suppliers (who supply parts and assemblies to several Fortune 500 companies) to supply you with the highest quality products and materials.<\/p>\n<p>As lakefront property owners, we&#8217;ve seen and experienced the struggles of storing and lifting kayaks and paddleboards.\u00a0That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re so excited\u00a0to bring you this line of dock mounted kayak and\u00a0SUP storage solutions.<\/p>\n<p>And yes &#8211; our dock racks\u00a0handle both kayaks and paddleboards.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at our <a href=\"\/dockcraft-shop\/\">waterside and dockside kayak and paddleboard racks<\/a>.
